Helen and Jason tied the knot in July of 2009. The ceremony was in their backyard and the reception was held at the Gaia Arts Center in Berkeley.
What inspired us about their wedding was that they were extremely conscious about keeping their wedding as eco friendly as possible. They used recycled materials like plates and silverware and they made sure what could be composted was put in the right bin. As result of their efforts, their garbage after the wedding was no bigger than one medium sized trash bag. To lessen their carbon footprint even further, they cycled on a tandem bike from the ceremony site to the reception venue and encouraged an entire group to hop on their bikes and do the same. It was completely insane, beautiful, and fun.
They taught us a lot that day including seeing things differently, diverting from the norm, and most of all, showing others that planning a green wedding can only be a win-win situation. You're not only celebrating a beautiful occasion but also showcasing your values.
